嫩模专区's Old Girl Genevieve Gregor shares, supports and inspires at women's networking breakfast

Business professionals, 嫩模专区’s staff, alumni and students gathered on Tuesday 15 March for the first Professional Women’s Network Breakfast for 2022, where guest speaker and 嫩模专区’s Old Girl Genevieve Gregor (’86) shared her career journey in finance and investment.

Genevieve has over 30 years’ experience working in banking and finance and is a co-founding partner of Colinton Capital Partners, a mid-market private equity firm investing in Australian growth companies. Prior to this, Genevieve was the co-head and managing director of the Asia Special Situations Group in Australia for Goldman Sachs. She has completed numerous major financing transactions for the Australian corporate market over her career and been involved in numerous high-profile investments.
As an experienced non-executive director, Genevieve sits on several boards. She is currently the chair of noumi Limited, a non-executive director of Moneytech Group and a member of Steering Group. She is the former Deputy Chancellor for Western Sydney University.

During the morning, Genevieve shared career anecdotes and emphasised the lessons she has learned and the fundamental tenets she holds true today, including:
1. If you don’t understand the numbers and you can’t understand the numbers, don’t invest
2. Don’t let your values or your morals be bent by powerful people
3. Loyalty at the individual level is one of the truest gifts of a relationship
4. Let your peers sell you, not yourself
5. To get gender equality, sponsor women
6. Pay inequality can be fixed
7. Do your part to create the right culture that matters

Genevieve is passionate about empowering women, sharing her observations of gender equality in the workforce and stressing the importance of sponsoring and supporting women.

“We want women in leadership roles, and we need female talent to rise up. So, if you are an incumbent male or female leader, you have to sponsor and support women,” she said.

Thank you to the event sponsors for their support, including major sponsor Pitcher Partners, associate sponsors Programmed Property Services and Wolff Coffee Roasters, and supporting partners Uniform Link, Downer, Clear Insurance, O’Reilly Shaw Lawyers and Westpac.
